Michael J. Sweeney, Esq.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and economics from SUNY Stony Brook. In 1979, he obtained his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey. He was admitted to the New Jersey and New York Bars in 1980.
Mike served as the Law Clerk for the late Honorable Amos C. Saunders in Passaic County. Mike began his long and distinguished career in Passaic County upon finishing his clerkship. He has been a partner in his own firm since 1988. Mike most recently joined Weiss, Tom & Trapanese, LLC, as Of Counsel.
Mike concentrates his practice in litigation, corporate and banking law, and commercial and residential transactions and financing, including EDA and SBA financing. He also serves as a court appointed mediator in commercial matters.
Mike is admitted to the practice of law in the States of New Jersey and New York, the United States District Court for the District Court of New Jersey, the United States District Courts for both the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Tax Court.
Mike has served as a Trustee of the Passaic County Bar Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the Passaic County Bar Association. He has served as a Trustee of the Passaic County Bar Association. He was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the Fee Arbitration (1987-1991) serving as its chairperson for the 1990-1991 term and Ethics Committee (1998-2002) for District XI (Passaic County). In addition, he has served on the Board of Managers for the Memorial Day Nursery School in Paterson, New Jersey for more than 20 years.
